In the heart of animal welfare, the Dog Home Foundation has embarked on a profound and noble mission to rescue and care for gaumatas – revered as sacred beings in many cultures. The sanctuary provided by this organization extends to cows in dire straits, those who are accidental, paralyzed, abused, acid attacked, unable to stand, abandoned, and even those carrying the burden of polythene on their stomachs. In this narrative, we explore the tireless efforts of the Dog Home Foundation in caring for these sacred creatures, the critical conditions they often find these animals in, and the urgent need for support to enhance their rescue capabilities.
The Plight of Gaumatas:
Gaumatas, often referred to as sacred cows, hold a special place in many societies due to their revered status. However, not all these animals are fortunate enough to live a life free from suffering. The Dog Home Foundation has taken on the responsibility of rescuing and caring for gaumatas that find themselves in distressing situations.
The cows admitted to the shelter of Dog Home Foundation are not only ill but are also victims of various forms of cruelty. From accidents that render them paralyzed to deliberate acts of abuse, acid attacks, and abandonment, these gaumatas arrive at the shelter in conditions that tug at the heartstrings of compassionate individuals. Some carry the physical scars of mistreatment, with polythene bags weighing heavily on their stomachs, posing severe health risks.
Medical Care and Nutrition:
Once under the care of Dog Home Foundation, these ailing gaumatas are treated with the utmost compassion and dedication. The organization has committed itself to providing comprehensive medical care to address the myriad health issues that afflict these sacred beings.
The medical care regimen includes treatments for accidental injuries, paralysis, acid burns, and other ailments that have been inflicted upon them. The goal is not only to alleviate their suffering but also to restore a semblance of normalcy to their lives.
In addition to medical care, the organization places significant emphasis on nutrition. The gaumatas are provided with a carefully curated diet that includes green fodder, khal (husk), jaughat (a mixture of grains), banta (a traditional drink), and other nutritional supplements. This approach ensures that the cows receive the essential nutrients needed for their recovery and overall well-being.
A Motherly Approach:
The ethos of Dog Home Foundation extends beyond conventional care. The organization adopts a motherly approach in its treatment of gaumatas, viewing these sacred beings as family. This sentiment is not merely symbolic but translates into the practical aspects of their care, ensuring that each cow receives the attention and affection akin to a child under a mother’s watchful eye.
This unique approach not only aids in the physical healing of the gaumatas but also contributes to their emotional well-being. The cows, often traumatized by their past experiences, find solace and comfort in the nurturing environment provided by the foundation.
Expansion Project: Building a New Shelter:
Recognizing the urgency of the situation and the growing need for their services, Dog Home Foundation has undertaken an ambitious project to construct a new shelter for gaumatas. This new facility aims to provide a haven for rescued cows, complete with proper living quarters, medical facilities, and open spaces conducive to their well-being.
However, this commendable endeavor is currently facing a critical challenge – a lack of funds. The construction of the new shelter requires substantial financial support, and the organization finds itself in a position where the urgency of the need is not matched by the availability of resources.
The Appeal to Donors:
In light of the pressing challenges and the ambitious expansion project, Dog Home Foundation extends a heartfelt appeal to donors. The organization, driven by a profound sense of compassion and responsibility towards gaumatas, seeks support to enhance their rescue capabilities and complete the construction of the new shelter.
Donors are invited to contribute towards the acquisition of a new ambulance, a crucial component in the organization’s ability to reach and rescue more cows in distress. Additionally, financial support for the construction of the new shelter is urgently needed, with the goal of providing a better life for gaumatas who have endured suffering and neglect.
The time will vary based on the condition of the animal and the number of animal emergencies at that time. Our helpline call attendants send the ambulances to the most critical animals first, such as animals who are unable to walk, have fractures, are bleeding, etc.
If it’s taking time for the ambulance to reach, please know that it’s because there are more critical rescues required first.
If you can bring the animal to Animal Aid yourself this is greatly appreciated and will ensure fast treatment.
